Two Theories about Joe Morgan, With Video Explanations
May 19th, 2008 | by ethanator1088 |I have 2 theories about Joe Morgan. They help explain why he says what he says, and does what he does. These are just my theories and they are not law. Yet! If you are new to Joe Morgan, and what are known as Joe Morganisms, let me introduce you to a few starter links. Mr. Morgan has a history of this learned behavior. My theories are not based on random observances.
- Recent Jose Reyes incident.
- Recent Foul Ball explinations.
- How fast does Zumaya pitch the ball? Let’s talk about it.
- And of course the ulitmate Joe Morgan inspired website FireJoeMorgan.com. That webiste has a litany of Joe Morganisms throughout its archives.
My first theory explains what our roles are when we watch a game, called by Joe Morgan. It came to me while I was watching “Whose Line Is It Anyways”. It is an improv show. It makes sense that the two would be intertwined, because Mr. Morgan seems to make things up on the spot, and then try to make us think that they are factual and well thought out. In actuality he is following a formula. Many people do not like improv for this reason, thus many people do not like Joe Morgan for the same reason.
I am getting ahead of myself. This video shows a game called “Sound Effects”. In our experiment of the theory this “Sound Effects” game they are playing is much like Joe Morgan calling a broadcast. I will tell you the roles that people play in the video/experiment, and then you watch the video, and you will understand.
- Drew Carey is “us”, the viewing public.
- The 2 Old Ladies are “Joe Morgan”.
- Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie are the game itself “Baseball”.
Now pay attention to the video. Drew Carey (US) begins the game (Baseball Broadcast). He tells the 2 Old Ladies ( Joe Morgan ) that they are to use their voice to inhance what is being displayed in front of them by Colin and Ryan ( Baseball ). When Drew Carey hit’s the buzzer, that is “US” turning the game off.
My other theory is that, Joe Morgan is an ex Ballplayer that Sam has leaped into. That is, Sam Becket from Quantum leap fame. This explains so much. Joe Morgan, or “Sam“, must continue to call games until he has made the past right. He must correct a wrong doing, and make the universe a better place before he can make the next leap. Now, I have no idea what this act is. It must be pretty huge, because this is the longest leap Sam has ever made. I also have some theories on what Sam is here for.
1. Bring Charlie Steiner back to ESPN.
2. Bring Craig Kilborn back to ESPN.
3. Bring Keith Olbermann back to ESPN.
4. Bring Dan Patrick back to ESPN.
Or most likely it is to
5. Keep the real Joe Morgan away from ESPN.
