David Stern Likes Dream Team against Redeem Team, Video

August 19th, 2008 | by Ethan Jaynes |

David Stern Likes Dream Team against Redeem Team, Video. David Stern does not make anyone mad. He does not come out and say who he thinks would win, but he alludes to the fact the the Dream Team would stomp the Redeem Team. :-) Watch the video for yourself, but it seems that Stern can not get over the front court for the Dream Team of Malone, Robinson, and Ewing. I like the Dream Team back court the best, but Stern’s point is well made and well played.

Saw this earlier today. I had jaw surgery a couple of years ago which is way on some days I cannot open my mouth very wide. What is David Stern’s excuse?

I don’t think the Redeem Team could beat the Dream Team. The Dream Team is just way too talented. I would def pay big bucks to see it, but I would expect Jordan and Barkley to dominate.

With the exception of Larry Bird, the Dream Team was healthy and at the peak of their games (Magic had retired, but he could still bring it). Plus, most of the Dream Team had been seasoned by tons of playoff basketball: Magic, Bird, Michael, Clyde and Scottie had all been to multiple championships while most everyone else had gone deep in the playoffs a number of times. My money would be on the ‘92 squad; I think they’re still the greatest basketball team ever assembled.

I think it is an open and shut case. This team is good, but there is no way the Redeem Team wins 4 out of 10 games against the Dream Team.

      Thanks for the comments!

You guys are looking at the names and not how the game would be played. With the exception of Jordan, Pippen, and Barkley this new team are all bigger and faster then the Dream team. Just like Gary Payton and Scottie Pippen could force Stockton out of the pick and roll offense they loved you have Dwade, Kobe, DWill, Chris Paul, Prince, and even Bosh who could apply the same pressure. Magic’s strong point was never his defense so who would he guard??? Patrick Ewing is to slow to match Dwight Howard and Robinson is way too soft (that is why Shaq would always kill him). This ‘08 team is bigger , stronger, faster, and plays way better defense (don’t forget the DT could hand check). They limit MJ’s touches and win by about 6-8 points.

I do not know what it is, but when I look at these guys I see a bunch of great players. When I looked at the Dream Team, I felt like I was watching living legends.

If this same team goes to the next Olympics, my mind might change some, but not now.

Wait a second; Carmelo Anthony is going to guard who? And Boozer, who amounts to Karl Malone-lite is going to what? And Chris Paul is going to slash his way past the best two team defenders in MJ and Pippen? What? Are you freaking people for real? And Bird (who I always hated) could out-three this whole Redeem squad by himself, even with a bad back and no feet. With the exception of Lebron, who hasn’t proven anything yet in a big spot, Dream Team wins. Don’t bother with the tape, the replay or your TIVO. And this steal and dunk Redeem squad is going to force 14 turnovers a game against Dream Team? For real? And Dwight Howard’s going to school Hakeem in his prime? Really?

Wake up folks; Christian Laetner loses to Michael Redd one on one. Maybe. That’s about your only plus.

Good points Jrodmc. I think that people are going a little crazy because the team is playing right now.

The only players that are Dream Team caliber are Jason Kidd and Kobe Bryant. LeBron comes in third but he is so young.

The rest are just good players, that might turn into legends.

everybody thinks the Dream Team can crush the Redeem team…and I think thats insane!

I think they would beat them but I don’t think they’ll crush them. it would be a good game. it will go down the stretch in the fourth quarter. Jordan will impose his will against the Mamba (Kobe)

I do not think the Dream team would SMASH them, but there is no way the redeem team is better.
