Chris Rock compares Sarah Palin to Michael Vick, Letterman, video
September 23rd, 2008 | by Ethan Jaynes |Chris Rock compares Sarah Palin to Michael Vick, Letterman, Video. Chris Rock started the joke off in third person, then he just started talking. He compared how Sarah Palin goes around killing Moose, but if a black man wants to kill a dog it’s a crime.
I am all for Chris Rock. With out him we would not have Lil Penny. I do not swear, but grew up around it, so I do not care if other people do it. I know he uses racial comedy all the time, but if this is his stance, it is just ignorance. We all know that Michael Vick tortured the dogs. Dog fighting and moose killing are not even related.
Here is the video. Tell me what you think.
It also looks like Chris Rock is not the only one making comparisons. Check out the video below.:-)

Obviously Dog Fighting and the way those dogs were killed by Vick and his buddies is a little different then hunting. But he does make the valid point that the only reason people care is because a Dog is a pet. It’s ok to kill Deer and Moose for sport, but not a Dog. Understanding that some people eat the deer and moose, and we have a long history of hunting for food, but many hunters do not eat, its just sport. Of course then you also have the issue of raising cattle and chickens just to be slaughtered for food too. How does that relate?

I think it is separated by the fact that dog fighting is a brutal sport. The dogs were tortured etc…
Hunting a Moose or raising a chicken/cow to eat is not brutal. It was why God gave us those animals.
He did not give us any animals to electrocute, starve, kill for fun, drown, and fight for sport. Those are things that Vick did to those dogs.
By Edward Wright on Sep 24, 2008 | Reply
so does this means that if God electrocutes a moose with lightning, we’re not supposed to laugh?
what about if god drowns one? he’s flooded before, hasn’t he?
if two moose fight for their own sport, is that immoral?
or is it just immoral when humans do it?
on the other hand, if the losing dog is cut up, cooked, and eaten afterwards, is a dog fight immoral?
bulls fight each other all the time. often, one bull will kill the other. I sure love steak, even if it comes from one of those bulls.
I just want to make sure God isn’t going to be angry. these rules aren’t in the Bible, so I need to make sure I’m not doing anything bad.

Mr. Wright your comment is absurd.
Dog fighting and everything goes along with it, especially in the Michael Vick case, is nothing like killing an animal for food.
Just because I brought God into the conversation, does not mean you can just come up with any generality and it makes my point stupid. You do not come even close to making a point.
No offense.

So they hunt wolves to intentionally inflate the caribou population so there’s more caribou to kill… This isn’t for food, this is just killing animals for fun, just like dogfighting.
Sarah Palin is just as bad as Micheal Vick.

You are talking about the second video. Edward was talking about the first one.
I added the second video just for fun. It was a funny song. I have not seen proof of what he is talking about, and I have not seen proof that the the wolf killings is for that reason.
Thanks for the comments guys!

Do you think the hunters are eating the wolves? No there killing the wolves so the wolves don’t hunt the Caribou. Sounds selfish to me.

Once again, thanks for the comments, and once again, we do not know if the second video is factual.

I have been watching Chris Rock for a long time and he cuts me up. As always you have to remember to not take his humor too seriously. He is over the top, he always has been.
But it does propose absurdity of culture. While being posed with a bloodied hunting kill seems pretty acceptable in America, in other areas dog fighting or cockfighting is normal or as in Spain goring bulls in the arena.
Not that I mind a good joke at Palins expense. But really who expects Rock to have tasteful humor all the sudden. It must of been killing him to not cuss alone.
By ethanator1088 on Sep 24, 2008 | Reply
Those are all great points Hilbert.
The difference is that Vick was exceptionally cruel to the dogs. Drowning, electrocuting, starving, hanging etc…
Vick is in a class by himself.

Since 1972, it’s been illegal to use aircraft to hunt for any purpose except predator control. In some cases, predators are killed in order to protect livestock, but according to the Anchorage Daily News, the purpose of Palin’s program was to protect moose and caribou so that hunters could shoot at them:
http://dwb.adn.com/news/alaska/wildlife/story/8726730p-8628810c.html
So the video is completely accurate. Palin’s program paid hunters and loaned them aircraft so that they could shoot wolves from the air, so that hunters could bag more moose. It really is hard to see why Michael Vick is in prison, but Sarah Palin is not.
Here’s another video that shows the brutality of aerial wolf hunting:

Before I destroy her, and speak untruths, I would have to hear the whole story.
Do we know if that is the only reason to kill the wolves? Do we know if there are too many wolves in that area?
I just added the second video for fun. I am not a activist. I let you add your comment with your links in case someone visiting the blog want to know more.
I do not have a firm opinion except that if they are killing the wolves just to have more moose, I am against it.

I’ve never liked Chris Rock (I never liked racial comedy). This comparison is out of bounds. Hunting for food (moose) and killing for sport (wolves) are much different than game fighting. I have seen how game fighting animals are raised and their entire lives are built around aggression, and winning. Much different than analyizing a population of wild animals and determining how many can be harvested from the wild or how many wolves an acre of land can support. The difference is cruelty. Plain and simple: game fighting is cruel, hunting is not.

It was a freakin’ joke people! Don’t sit around making comparisons as though you could equate the brutalization of dogs to hunting for food. Palin has MORE than enough to take her down. Leave the Moose Hunting thing alone….how about the fact that she went to 6 colleges in 5 years, graduated with a degree in SPORTS JOURNALISM and is about to have the 2nd most powerful job in the world. As long as it’s not an “elitist”.

Wow, some of you need to really get over stuff. Vick killed and tortured dogs, by law it’s against the law. Vick laundered money, it’s against the law. Vick didn’t pay some taxes, that my friends is against that law. And Vick had dogs fight for their lives, and that is against the law as well. Palin on the other hand has done nothing against the law, so there is nothig to compare whatso ever. Once again, get over it, Vick is doing his time for his crimes and Palin is going to do hers in the White House, and I believe she is going to get a four year sentence for what she has done. Chris Rock is comedy though.

I believe that Sarah Palin is pretty awful for not only supporting aerial hunting but also for supporting legislation that lets hunters kill mother bears with cubs and also kill bears that are habituated to humans (like those at Katmai National Park).
Despite this, I still don’t think that you can compare Sarah Palin’s acts to Michael Vick’s crimes.
Michael Vick not only put his dogs into fight til death matches but tortured to death (by hanging and electrocution etc.) the poor dogs that lost the fights. He’s a horrible person that deserved harsh punishment for his horrible acts of sadistic cruelty.
Last that I heard, hunting doesn’t include torturing the animal as retribution before killing it.
Chris Rock talks as if he’s such a moral person but his views on the Michael Vick case show likewise.

look, to say that hunting is the same as dogfighting is wrong. killing animals respectfully and using their meat for food is fundamental to almost all human societies. but what sarah and her pals in alaska have been doing to kill wolves, shooting them from planes and then cutting off their paw for a trophy, that’s not really hunting. and it’s not much different from the kind of torture mr. vick is guilty of.

“Palin on the other hand has done nothing against the law, so there is nothig to compare whatso ever.”
that’s not what an independent investigation into her firing of public officials for personal matters might suggest. it seems like she may well have broken alaska state laws on abuse of power. so, yeah, not dog torture, but still illegal.

Last time I checked, those Alaskan wolves and pups weren’t used for food.
Plus, the bleeding ones run to exhaustion by the snipers in the planes appeared to suffer quite a bit until they were finally put out of their misery.
Not much of a difference between her and Vick with this issue.

I think Rock was spot on in his social commentary comedy. It’s policing of culture. For example, in India if you were to kill a dog, even cruelly, eh, no big deal. But to take out a cow for any reason…you’re coming back in your next life as a termite.
Here we have different and differing views. I guarantee Mike Vick is in jail because he LIED about everything - Feds don’t make nice with people who try and bury their stank. That being said, ANYONE who thinks that the killing of any animal by a gun is any more humane than two dogs going at it is an absolute fool.
Perhaps the only way to experiment is to let a gun toting friend blast you in the leg…then do your best to run until you can’t run any longer - at that point, maybe they’ll track you down and shoot you in the head to put you “out of your misery.” Where do we think that phrase came from? Those animals hunted feel miserable after they’ve been shot…some of them killed by their wound, others dying slowly, bleeding out until there’s nothing left for their heart to pump - unfound by the hunter to become buzzard buffet. Sound any more humane than dog fighting?
If Sarah Palin were hunting for food, why the photo? Why do people take photos of their kill? They’re trophies…”Look what I did!” Food, schmood. How many people actually kill for food? 1 - 5 percent? The other 95% of hunters have access to grocery stores, do they not? It’s SPORT. As cruel as dog fighting without the legal consequences. A complete and total American Double-Standard.

For the Millionth Time the reason why MICHAEL VICK WENT TO JAIL wasn’t simply because he killed dogs (80+ by the way) its because the animals were tortured. Thats how its different then Sarah Palin hunting Moose. Killing an animal for food is one thing, Torturing it for amusement is another.
Forget about the fact that Dogs and Man (all men) have a special bond. We would not have made it passed the stone age without that bond its genetic and a sign of a higher IQ. Since those that were good at domesticating animals were able to provide for their families and prosper.
