8RV #9: NFL Wild Card Edition

New York Jets at Cincinnati Bengals, Saturday 4:30 EST NBC

The Jets playoff past has Super Bowl III and not much else, so let’s start with this Let Noxzema Cream Your Face commercial starring Broadway Joe Namath and the late lovely Farrah Fawcett:

The greatest/only great moment in Cincinnati Bengals history:

Honorable mention: the amazing sweatshirts worn by the 1989 team in their rap video.

Obviously it’s tough to beat a team twice in seven days, but I’m pretty sure somebody’s going to do it this weekend. As I said on 7IS last week, bad things happen when you waste an opportunity to eliminate a team like the Jets.

Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys 8:00 EST NBC

The best moment in Eagles postseason history:

(Ok, that was a regular season game, but the same thing happened in the Super Bowl no matter what Donovan says.)

As for the Cowboys, I couldn’t find video of Dexter Manley knocking out Danny White, but this moment with Gary Hogeboom is a close second:

Baltimore Ravens at New England Patriots 1:00 EST CBS

Besides the Cowboys, there is no NFL fan base more immoral and depraved than the team-stealing filth who root for the Ravens:

George Michael of the Sports Machine and NBC 4 in Washington passed away recently. I wrote him a letter once when I was in grade school, something about how i had also thought the Patriots would win Super Bowl XX. He sent me a nice letter back.
